Dr. 亚伦 Neinstein is an endocrinologist, a specialist in hormonal disorders. He cares for patients with diabetes; disorders of the thyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands; disorders of the ovaries or testes; and other metabolic issues.
Neinstein studies new ways to leverage technology to treat diabetes. He seeks to empower patients and doctors to access, 理解, use and share health information in day-to-day care, including outside of traditional medical settings. With specialists from other disciplines, he is part of an effort to guide the design, 发展, adoption and application of digital information services in health care delivery. The goals are to advance health care policy and create tools that facilitate connected, 合作医疗.
As UCSF's vice president of digital health, Neinstein leads a diverse team focused on electronically transforming the delivery of care, developing virtual care models, and improving the care experience as well as access for patients. He helped implement UCSF's electronic medical records system and was a founder of Tidepool, a nonprofit organization that creates open-source software to empower people with diabetes. He was also appointed to serve on the federal Health Information Technology Advisory Committee.
Neinstein earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in endocrinology at UCSF.
